The GOOD STUFF: Your Home
A) BUYERS: Currently you need at least tw (4-6) months to buy a homeshort sale in this area. This is due to the large inventory of foreclosured (30 days)and short sale homes. On average it can take several months to close a short sale property.
If you prefer to do a regular sale then you only require about 30-45 day, but your choices may be limited. Keep in mind some sellers are right on the edge of what they owe and what the home is worth. Short Sale Information: If you will be underwater and need to sell you may have your home listed several months prior to the bank accepting the short sale and the offer. This will vary depending on which lender you have for your home. On average a short sale takes four to seven months from list to close. The banks have gotten better with time, but there are still some short sales taking several months to complete.

Military Base Realignment
Changes are coming to Virginia for the military. There are several base alignments happening that will affect Ft. Belvoir.
•Walter Reed will be closing in DC, and moved to both the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and Fort Belvoir.
•Ft. Belvoir is anticipating 3000 personnel to fill the new positions. The new hospital is scheduled to be complete by Spring 2011.
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
•The new NGA building in Springfield, VA is still in construction, and is expected to be complete by Spring 2011. It is anticipated to hold 8500 new personnel.
